The Sonic X is a great ball, but due to its symmetrical core and low differential, it is almost always a go long and flip type of ball. I have 2 of the red pins. They have different drills and totally different looks on the lane. The Zone has a lot more flare potential than a Sonic and has a strong mass bias, so drillings can make a huge difference. I think the 2 balls have similar length out of box, but my sonic is in between my 2 red pin classics in hook potential. With the classics choose your drill wisely.

i have the PEARL sonic X just to clear things up.  Thanks louie for your comments...any suggestions for drillings??? just any drilling with the pin above the fingers??? I am thinking of making this the longer of the two...

The Sonic X has such a high rg and low differential that I would recommend a 4.5 inch pin to pap with the pin at finger height or a little above. You can always polish more or add surface to adjust length.

The red pin classic zone will roll how you drill it. The cover is very clean in the heads regardless of drill, but you can really shape the midlane and backend with pin and MB placement.

alright. i think i know what i'll do then...
I will drill the sonicX/p pin above the fingers and just make it go as long as possible.  I'll then drill the red pin to go fairly long, but have more finish.  Can't wait!!
