Should i pay to correct the ball drillers mistake?

I recently got a ball drilled by a local driller.  He is VERY high priced but everyone says he does a great job.  The first ball he did felt great.

This week i took 2 more balls to him and asked him to do everything just like the last ball.  I got them today and i couldn't get out of them.  the spans were too long on them and i think the pitch was off.  

I am taking them back tomorrow to get fixed...Should i pay for it or should he do it for free?  He charges about $35-40 to plug a thumbhole and redrill it with an insert.

What does everyone think?

If he screwed up, he should fix it for free if he had any kind of morality.

I believe that if the driller checks his drilling and in fact did drill them off, he should stand behind his reputation, and behind his shop, and fix them right for free, or an extremely discounted price.

No question...if the driller made a mistake it should be remedied free of charge.  I'd be curious to see what the differences are between the 3 balls...in reality a good ball driller should NEVER miss a span or pitches....alot of times the difference in feel you are describing can be a slight difference in the amount and placement of bevel in a thumbhole..for example balls that have less bevel may feel like they have longer spans as there is more of an "edge" grabbing the base of your thumb when your hand is in the ball..also along with making the span feel longer it also will effect how your thumb exits the hole which can be why you are suspecting incorrect pitches.  If this is the case a few properly placed swipes with a bevel knife should do the trick...if not and the guy did miss your span and pitches I'd suggest finding a new driller.

Exactly. It's most likely bevel. I'm sure the driller will fix it at no charge.
If not...Find a new pro shop.

BTW bowlallthetime: I pay $7.50 for a plug and redrill 1 hole.
$20 to drill a new ball.
I do the inserts and finishing...

Saw the Rack -- You shouldn't have to raise a big stink.  A good pro shop will react to a complaint.  But you should have let the shop know that you were not satisfied, because they can't fix something they don't know about.  Give them a chance.  --  JohnP

I took the ball to the driler today and he said it was the bevel of the thumbhole.  I haven't thrown them yet, but they feel 100% better.  It looks like Franchise was right.

he should do it i think ,i just decided to stop using my driller after he charged me to redrill a ball i bought from him that i was never happy with the drilling and the redrill sucked his answer was maybe its not the ball for you 300 bucks is a lotta cheese to shoot at the 10 pin i think customer care has flown south for our lifetime
