Calluses
« on: March 17, 2010, 08:14:56 PM »
I get calluses in the tip of my index finger and just below it in my palm as shown in the picture

I use a Turbo Rev to help with the tip of my index finger and the other callus usually isn't problematic unless I use a ball that is sanded 2000 or lower or if I bowl more than 5 games.  People say this are good calluses to have.  Is that true? Also, has anyone tried using the Vise Bio Skin Ultra? I was thinking if getting it for the other callus because I don't like using a glove.

I have the one on the palm at the base of the index finger. I'm told it's a good one (as in, a lot of good players havethe same callous). I don't find that it causes me any issues unless I go 6 months without bowling, where the callous disappears, which can cause blistering, which is less fun than it sounds.

Not sure about the callous on the tip of your index finger, my intuition would be that you're pressing too hard on the ball with that fingertip (which can give you a useful, subtle, reaction change). I tend to go for an even pressure with the whole finger, rather than just the tip, which should sort that callous out.

There is a section on calluses in the Unofficial BR FAQ, courtesy of Motiv Girl, near the end of the original post.
