I don't know....
« on: May 03, 2004, 04:15:27 PM »
....if I'm going to post a video once I get one.  Yes, there are a lot of people on this site that have a TON of information, but reading some of the responses of peoples video posts is hilarious.

Are we all gold-level coaches ?  Do we all know that much ?

Yes, I've responded to some video posts true, ....but it just seems like lately they've been extremely "knit-picky" for some reason?

Anyone else see this ?

I think I'm going to leave changes to "my" coach Advice of other sorts, I'm going to gather as much as possible, but I'm not sure I want too many chefs in the kitchen analyzing my game......but hey, that's just me

And, on another note...I won't be responding to videos any more either. I don't know why I do...hell, what do I know ?!?!

Jeffrevs,

Personally, I'd accept everything and anything.  I still do..I'm not averaging 300 so what I know is also not the answer...") Then talk to King, he's your ball driller, incredibly intelligent, and knows your game.  Never hurts to get different points of view to maybe help.  There are just too many variables that do not cover everything for everybody...just like a 30 yard pitch shot....  There are too many ways to do that correctly.  Do what you do best....

ps.  Responding to videos, new balls whatever...your missing the point.  I want different opinions so I can get a feel accordingly.....you know your stuff, don't look for sympathy... (even though I think it's King talking..)

Keep up the good work bud...while weightblocks constantly change, we can only do our best to keep up.

Side Note: KOTM, you're the man, looking forward to your insight always.  I'm old school buddy....I'm just try to get the job done...thanks.

Rick,

I think my point is being missed a little. My post is strictly dealing with responses / criticism to people posting videos of their game.  I think ball drilling / recommendations / choices, etc are one thing.  I guess, if you have a coach and are currently working on your game, I'm not sure it's the right thing to get a bunch of other advice on top of that.  This is a difficult game no doubt, and listening to one person help you is difficult enough.

I'm looking at it like this.....I'm NOT a coach, I shouldn't comment...(I have in the past, very simple / general remarks,...but I don't think I should ....

I agree with Jeff on that statement.

The problem I have with every video we look at shows the bowler throwing a Strike and then asks "did you see anything I am doing wrong?" Why don't people show a miss and then ask for comments? Then it would be easier to evaluate. Some people are terrific bowlers averaging 215-220-225-230-etc. and they don't have "by the book styles," but the way they bowl works for them and if they ever tried to change to "by the book styles" their game would go down hill. Unless a person is doing bad and wants suggestions, I simply can't see showing all strikes unless that person is bragging on him/herself or wants to show everyone, "hey look at me." If someone posting a video is posting it for comments of what he/she needs to do to correct their game, show your worse shot. Not your best shot.

PS: It's lower average bowlers like myself that need to be posting a video and asking for comments. The problem for someone like me however, is my style is embarasing and I don't want to be the "laughing stock of this site," so I won't show mine.

Brick, this brings up a great point.........can you imagine if Walter Ray posted a video on here and asked for comments (caveat: we didn't know who he was)  He'd get massacred!! He's far from textbook, but look at his results?

Brick, I understand your point, but for some of the people who do post videos that have some unorthodox deliveries like myself, they might want someone to point out things they do normally that would cause inconsistencies.  For me, I didn't realized I drifted left then right during my approach until I saw it.  It's pointing out the little things that help someone shoot well consistently.

WSU, true, I understand, but only if you "don't" have a personal coach that you're currently working with.....then it could lead to confusion...
