Reign vs.Nomad Pearl
« on: October 22, 2009, 11:49:45 PM »
Looking for a stupid angular hockey stick ball.  Most of the stuff in my arsenal is drilled to roll early and smooth.  Need something to be angular for later in the nite when I need to move in side.  Which one is going to be more hockey stick if drilled the same.   Specs in profile.  Thanks for any input.

After throwing the Reign yesterday at a Storm seminar side by side with the Nomad Pearl, I would say the Reign is snappier off the spot. The guys doing the seminar (Roger Noordhoek, Chris Sand, Jeff Carter) said that mega skid/snap was the intent of this one.

Jeff Carter said he has 5 of them drilled and Ryan Shaffer is partial to it as well. He also said when they decided to let the company staffers use all of the balls in the corporation line, that Wes Malott was drilling up Reigns also and really like them.

Hope that helps out.

Any time there's a friction spot to throw out to and the backends aren't too jumpy, the Reign is my go-to ball anymore.  It's just so freaking strong off the spot, but controllable since it doesn't overreact when you get it into the dry too early thanks to the higher RG core, and you can still get tons and tons of length with a lot of backend even if you don't have it as highly polished.  I sanded mine with 500 then 4000 abralon on a spinner, then polished it by hand, and it's perfect for what I need since it won't slide too much in oil.
