can u beat this?
« on: February 15, 2010, 02:10:00 PM »
situation: tournament in my house today, 10 games on viper, 45 mins after the tournament ended, my league on those lanes.

during practice, i had a shot, 15 out to 5, but i needed lots of speed... practice stopped, game on and i lost the look after 4 frames. the lanes were burnt, the type u want to just leave and im certainly not robert smith.

first game 148... including a double LOL, on the last 2 frames, i grabbed my teammate's the one, that hasn't been cleaned for years, to get the double.

now, can u beat this? second game i throw a 244, all brooklyns with a 5-10 split open frame in the middle of the game.

last game, i kept hitting brooklyn but kept leaving something here and there, another 151 LOL

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

I don't think I'd like to try to beat that.

I think I'd like to not bowl in a house that thinks so little of their players and their leagues, BBUUUUTTTT this seems to be a developing trend.

I've seen the equivalent happen more and more often, especially as places like AMF (I don't know whether your house is an AMF one or not. It doesn't really matter.) are hiring more and more managers who are not bowlers. All they seem to think of is the bottom line. Of course, as more and more league bowlers go elsewhere to be treated with a semblance of respect, they'll wonder where their bottom line went.

Which is exactly why we had I believe 4 AMF houses close down in the past few years.  There are other factors however that I wont get into.  But, yes.  Managers are suckered into the "We make more revenue from open play than league" that they refuse to believe that they will be the next place to go under if they follow that. This is why I would rather bowl at independent centers than corporate owned places because the independents have noone to answer to but themselves.

This is so true. I bowl a sunday night league where the house doesn't oil before hand. We just bowl on whatever the birthday parties leave from the day. Although it does make for a good challenge in the lane conditions, I'm getting pretty tired of sticky approaches and the like. This is the first and last league I will bowl in this house.

Same thing in a new Brunswick Zone center. Leagues are always after hours of open bowling by kids, and specifically my monday league is after a bunch of seniors with plastic balls, who in turn are after those youngsters.

Makes reading a lane !@#$ing impossible, that''s for sure. I''m all up for a challenge but sometimes..wow.
