You will also hardly get a clean release - by tendency, you have to come around the ball lot to get it off of your hand in time. IMHO, the extra revs you can create this way just dissipates in spin... may work on pretty dry lanes, when you have lots of area to cling to, but for my taste it makes the overall ball reaction hard to predict or control.
Last year in league we had a player who would literally cradle the ball in his elbow and release it like a yo-yo with much speed. Looked impressive, but most of the time he suffered from over/under issues, creating strikes thorugh sheer force. May be the way to go on the THS, but nothing for more demanding shots.
