Sad way to start the new year but Rolf Gauger has passed away.
« on: January 04, 2009, 05:09:03 AM »
I got this email from Jim King.

Rolf Gauger passed away at 2:30 new years eve. He was a longtime writer and Super School coach for BTM and we will miss him dearly.

I am sorry to say I never had the chance to meet Rolf but very much wanted too. Everyone that I have ever spoken with that knew him said only the best things about him and what a great guy he was. I know fellow coach John Jowdy was a close friend and will miss him dearly.

That is sad news.  Mr Gauger was one of my favorite writers in BTM.  My condolences to his family and the extended BTM family.

picked up many small coaching tips from his articles, one of my favorite BTM writers behind my friend Bill Hall.

As with the others so far, I only "knew" Mr. Gauger from his articles, but this is a very sad day/week/year for bowling.

If we are known through our works, he will be sorely missed, indeed.

incredibly sad news. He was my coach for over 3 years and helped me develop my style and lane play.

BTM and the bowling community have truly lost a great source of knowledge.

I had the good fortune to work with Rolf for a time while living in Phoenix. He was the type of coach to build a personal relationship with each of his students and seemed to enjoy coaching. Rolf always said he learned as much from his students as his students learned from him. He was just one of the truly nice and enjoyable people you like to meet.
