Certain Balls Not Sold Here
« on: December 28, 2003, 11:22:27 PM »
Dyno-Thane
Roto-Grip
Mo Rich
Visionary

I read a lot of good things about these balls. Yet, I have not seen any of these balls in the area I live in. (South Central USA)

I'm just wondering why there are none around here. I haven't seen a single one.  Are these balls strictly an East Coast or West Coast thing or what? I've had various people on this site tell me I need to try a certain Visionary ball or Roto-Grip and etc. However the Pro Shops here don't handle them,  don't know anything about them or how to drill one if a person did take one in, and so forth. Just curious.

90% of the balls thrown at my house are Brunswick (the proshop guy is a member of the pba senior tour and is a brunswick staffer)

there are 5 NEW hammers in the house. I own three of them and my dad owns one as well.

Ebonite is really only represented by the V2 series, and even then it is only 2-3 guys that throw them.

one guy pretty much uses Track only...

I have yet to see a RotoGrip, AZO, new AMF, and come to think of it, I haven't seen a new Storm ball in a year or two...

A common experience by some posted above seems to sum up what I believe to be most likely a truth in most areas.
Whatever the area's TOP bowler's are using, and scoring with, is what the AVERAGE bowler follows with. The "beginner" or "less experienced" will lean towards his teamates suggestions, or that of the local pro shop.
This is probably why more "major" manufacturers are leaning away from "Pro" contracts, and doing more with "seed balls" to local top talent and Pro Shops.

BrianN, it does seem that the "herd" oft times follow the "lead bull". Regardless if the "Bull" leads them off a cliff.

We keep DynoThane and Roto Grip in stock.  Can get MoRich in a day, but nobody really asks for them.  No buzz on the new AMF balls either.  Pretty sure nobody has heard of Visionary, don't even know a distributor that carries them.

We sell lots of Storm, Columbia, Brunswick, DynoThane, pretty much in that order.  Some Ebonite, Track, Hammer, and Roto Grip.

No AZO, Visionary, Lane #1, AMF, MoRich, Nu Line at all.
