Had the pleasure of meeting...
« on: February 08, 2010, 01:20:51 PM »
Shannon O''Keefe at the regional this past weekend in Houston. She owned the entire tournament from start to finish, which was on Viper, and averaged 240(freakin'' 240!) for the weekend. My high school coach was at the alley watching when i arrived, and there she was, standing in his conversation circle. She was very friendly towards me, and continued to converse with me until she left. I also met Marcia Kloempken(recognize the last name?) and talked with her at length while Shannon bowled. Both of them were very down to earth, very cool, and incredible bowlers. After the tournament ended, I grabbed a practice pair, and they went out of their way to watch my game and give me tips. Congrats to Shannon for winning it all! (Marcia missed the cut for match play by 9 sticks... )

And yes, Shannon is quite good looking in person.

Marcia is super nice too, throws it great.  Shannon can play, both good players.

Spartan, try to make it to Palace Lanes for the Luci Bonneau Mixed Doubles during the summer.  Marcia and Shannon both have bowled it, along with: Lynda Barnes, CDB, Carol Norman, Anne Marie Duggan, Tiffany Stanbrough, Liz Johnson, Shannon Pluhowsky, Wendy McPherson, Clara Guerrero, Leslie Bohn, Stefanie Nation, and many others.  I crossed next to Marcia last year, she's wicked good.

These women have partners that don't suck such as: Wes Malott, Chris Barnes, Mike Scroggins, Mark Scroggins, Paul Fleming, Dino Castillo, Parker Bohn, Tommy Jones, Mike Wolfe, Sean Rash, Mike Fagan (I think), Bill Oneill (I think), Nathan Bohr, Chris Johnson, David Haynes, and many others from around Texas and the country.

This tournament is fun to bowl, tough conditions, brutal competition.

Mike, I will definitely have to go this year. I've heard about it plenty, but never got off my butt and went. Is it open to the public to compete, or is it a pro tournament?

Met Shannon also and she is a nice person. Was up there watching my brother Charles Vaughan who qualified 3rd and went +268 in the 5 games of semis with a leverage weighted Brunswick Black Diamond to sneak into second.

Open to anyone, not a pro tournament, ran like one though, Pro Ams on Friday and Saturday night.  Name shirts encouraged, etc...  I think 80 teams max, and they had around 70 last year.
