I'm making the ultimate shoe cover! (Hopefully)
« on: September 07, 2015, 11:07:10 AM »
I'm tired of wearing through and ripping out my shoe covers. And all that bending over to take elastic shoe covers off does get old after a while. Since my dad is a dealer for a roll tarp business and we get in extra heavy duty canvas for construction trailer tarps, I am going to make a shoe cover out of that where hopefully it will slip on and off while being rigid enough to be able to walk in without falling off. I am going to reinforce it with ratchet strap material

How often do you put shoe covers on during a 3 game league session??

I think I do it once- the one time per night I go to the john.
If it's raining and customers are coming in and going out regularly and I want to go to the bar or the snack counter, then I'll also put them on.
Otherwise, I stay around my setee area and never walk on the concourse.

When I have them, I put them on after every shot. Drinks get spilled very frequently and the whole building is carpeted. Last week the ice machine was leaking and I thought I ruined my shoes because I walked through a wet spot without knowing about it. The ac has also been dripping with condensation since it is summer, and we get little wet spots on the carpet. Not wearing them is just begging to step in wet spots where I bowl lol

I got guys in my leagues that do it after every frame...some odd 40 times a night I'd guess

There was a bowler in one of my leagues, she made fluffy shoe covers.

My shoe covers are all with the original SST's (6's and 8') and the one shoe cover I use most is finally coming apart at the elastic seams.

Ok; those I can understand forcing you to be extra cautious.

I've seen the same, but I don't understand why. That's almost the definition of anal retentive.

Years back a lady on my league made me some. She worked at a dive shop and made them out of this day glow nylon material they used for something they made for wetsuits. They lasted for years till the stitches wore out.

I tried. I have it so it is functional, but not ideal. I can get it to be ideal, but that will take a lot more work than what I want to go through. And the end result will not be up to my standards in appearance

My new idea is that I may be able to find a men's sandal at Walmart that I can slide my slide shoe into. Or even a women's slipper if I can find one in the correct size and style. I'm secure enough to use women's slippers lmao. Going to Walmart in a few. I'll keep in touch

A friend of mine uses shower caps, but he uses them maybe once a night during league, if even that. Very ugly, but it does the job for the amount of time that he uses it, plus he's a cheap-o!

I found an adjustable men's sandal. If I adjust the Velcro to the limit, my shoe will slide in and out of it. I wrapped electrical tape around the strap and the bottom of the sandal to keep the strap from coming apart. I'll see how this works on Thursday

Are you planning to use both of the sandals?  If not, one leg is going to be about 1" shorter than the other, making walking awkward.  --  JohnP

Why not just buy a pair of galoshes? You can wear them even in the rain, doesn't need to be invented, pretty easy to get on and off if you get a larger size and they can be pretty cheap.

I only will use one sandal. With the work I do, I won't even notice one inch difference when I am walking. To me, that is level ground lol. I can easily understand how some people would find that difficult though
