Work Outing
« on: March 17, 2010, 04:22:09 AM »
Ok, ...our work area is having an afternoon bowling event tomorrow.

Question:
99% of the people just bowl for 'fun' ....

Do I:
A) Bring what I have (3 ball roller, 2+spare ball)
B) or...tranfer just 1 ball and my plastic to an over the shoulder tote, so I don't look like a 'bowler' ...

We just did that a few weeks ago.  Me and a few coworkers went to lunch-and-bowl on a Friday.  I brought the top part of my 4-ball roller.  Two balls and my shoes.  No one really made fun of me and I didn't feel like I was putting on a show.  Of course, there were only five of us bowling.

Okay Jeff,

So carrying 3 balls makes you look like a bowler, but 2 doesn't? If you are dealing with people who don't bowl in leagues..I don't think it matters.

Take all three and show no mercy!!! If they know you are bowler, you better live up to that expectation or you will never hear the end of it.

You got that right!

My wife's company did an xmas outing and everybody in the office already knew we were bowlers, and that I have my own drilling equipment.  They were expecting us to be the best bowlers - even though it wasn't a house we were familiar with.

They had a couple of other bowlers in the group, and the usual no thumbers  that just throw fast and hard and get lots of "lucky" strikes.  Nothing like watching those guys stringing strikes while you're getting tapped and trying to figure out the lanes!

My experience is that most people are too busy drinking and socializing to really be paying any attention to what anybody else is doing anyway.

I'd say take all your stuff, but just take your plastic ball and shoes in with you.  You can always go get the other stuff if you really want or need it.
