Change your game or change your balls?
« on: October 05, 2003, 02:05:11 AM »
After bowling in a marathon tournament today, i noticed something i do that many don't and it has been discussed before on this, but i wanted to see what other peoples styles and/or preferances are.

Do you change equipment if your style isn't working, keeping your style and just matching equipment to it? I do this to a point but i can't buy a ball for every condition.

Or do you alter your game to fit the lanes? Today at the marathon i had to throw it harder than normal, probably adding 5 mph on my speed, drop my revs and make sure to get it out. I heightened my backswing, didn't get into as much of a knee bend and really made sure to inside out my swing and open up my shoulders. But by game 10 i was swinging 4th arrow with alot of side rotation slowly keeping my hips closed and getting into a deep knee bend

What are some things you might do or have done to match up with hard or difficult tournament conditions? Or perhaps things you would like to learn to do. Compare your A game to other things you can do and is it hard to switch back and forth? I know alot of times after doing something for a tournament i'm not accustomed to, when i bowl again and i try to go back to my regular style, it can be tough because you might have picked up habits which worked at the tournament, but might be counter productive in league play.
