Recently, one house I bowl in changed to a blocked shot, causing scores to increase dramatically, and lots of talk about it. A few weeks later, the other house changed to a blocked shot for a tournament and the bowlers scored better than the tournament has ever seen. For league, we were given the same shot, and during the first week of having the shot, the top 3 scores were 631 by me, 625, and my dad with 620 with him taking the new high game with a 277. The high game previously was 266, and series is 669 shot by me. This is a low average league with 10 people capable of scoring well. With a shot this easy, I feel like there will be big scores shot during the rest of the league. It is truly amazing how a shot can inflate scores so much.

By capable of scoring, I mean people that average 175+. no one averages 200+ on this league.

Yeap . . this is why some claim that inflated scores are ruining bowling. I've backed off that myself, bigger scores are fun for a lot of people. However, just wait, you'll start running into handicap problems, then you'll have more people mad than happy about the scoring jump.

I am by no means a scratch bowler. I am sitting at a 175 and a 181 average. I do not bowl in big tournaments. I am STILL not happy with inflated scores. I want to earn scores, not have them handed to me.

I agree, but some people honestly don't know the difference. If they start on a shot where there's 5 boards of area, they consider hitting any of those 5 boards a good shot, and there's no reason for them not to. If hitting that area results in hitting the pocket or striking, that teaches them that it was a good shot. It's hard going backwards.

I hate when I blatantly miss my mark and it looks like a perfect pocket hit.

Welcome to most house shots in America.

I wish we could get a sport shot league in my area, but I am the only one that wants to challenge myself I think
