Changing your line
« on: December 15, 2015, 11:20:46 AM »
Can someone give me some feedback on something.  Thanks in advance.

I feel that when I was bowling at my best a few years ago my feet were starting on board 20 and I could usually stay between board 20 and 25 for the night.  I had some knee issues and some physical issues that altered my release a bit and it became harder and harder for me to stand in that area so I started moving farther and farther over so I'm starting the night bowling on board 35.  The issue I'm having is that standing here I can do great in the first game but as soon as the lane breaks down a bit I'm screwed because there's really nowhere else for me to go left and I'll leave too many splits because my angle is too sharp.

I know I definitely have to move back to board 20 or 25 but have to get to the bottom of what's causing my issues.  I think I need to focus more on bringing my right leg behind me on my release and make sure I don't kick it out but I know I'm doing something bad in my release as well.  I'm throwing the Motiv Primal Rage right now as my primary with the IQ Nano as my backup (which is new and I can't control at all right now).

It's hard to answer your questions cause guys here don't know much about your game. Speed, revrate, or even a video.

I'm guessing you had a knee injury? Thus, your speed is slow? If you're moving so far in/left and you run out of room, have you ever balled down?

My late teammate had knee issues and his speed went down to 12 to 13 mph. He was struggling so bad with reactive and urethane balls. The reactive balls made him move left and he was just O/U. Plus, he was battling cancer.....

Since His hands could fit my clear tire spare ball, I let him used it. BOOM 211 average for the last and final part of the season...sadly, he never returned after that summer...Bob made it happen using a ball type no one else used during leagues and he enjoyed his last few months of bowling....
Does a round object have sides? I say yes, pizza has triangles..

Yeah battled a dislocated kneecap after coming back from an ACL surgery and then have severe joint pains from an inflammatory disease so LOTS of fun in trying to bowl.  My speed now is about 13.5, down from about 15.5mph from a couple of years ago.  Not sure on the rev rate.  I'll try to post a video soon so it's easier then explaining.

I was going to say it is probably a ball speed issue.  You physical issues have hurt your ball speed, but your rev rate and axis tilt have not decreased.  There is so much friction out there in the game today, that ball speed is more necessary than ever before.  The best thing you can do is to regain some ball speed.  Alternatively going to less surface, and possibly even dropping ball weight are other options to look at.

Thanks - I dropped the ball weight to 15 in all my balls over the summer and it's definitely been a big help so far.  At this point I do feel good enough that I think the lack of speed is more mechanical then anything.  I think I just picked up some bad habits in the last year or two trying to compensate.
