Lack of visitors and participation at the site.

I remember a few months ago, we had several entrys for king of the lane, and the same with "ask the pro's." Now it seems as if it is the forgottn bowling website. Although it's probably my fault.

There are tons of nice sites out there... but the real question is, what makes yours different?  I wish bowlingballexchange the best of luck, I've even added a link to them on my site, but in my humble opinion I don't see a future for it.  At least not the way it stands now.. it is almost identical to ballreviews, bowlingballreviews, and bowlingindex.

Gotbowling, I'm assuming, is the highly anticipated video hosting website.  That is unique and has merit, although the cost of bandwidth is NOT cheap and there are plenty of places to host videos (i.e. we-todd-did-racing or  mustangmods.com) for free.  But if there are enough bowling videos, it could weather the storm.

Websites cost money to grow.  I've already spent nearly $3K of my own money this year on my site and am about to drop another grand on some more software development.  And remember kids, my site doesn't earn me a nickel.  And let's not even begin to discuss the TIME it needs.

But here is my advice... spend the time/money to get it going or shut it down.  When I visit a site and see that there is no traffic or very old content... I never return.

bamaster -

The bandwidth is no big deal, I have 100 gig bandwidth at my disposal.
so gotbowling should be ok. I own the small webhosting company that feeds it.

as for bowlingballexchange.com It was never derived to pull everyone away to one site, I simply made it cause people were complaining about certain sites
and that is a place where there is moderators and people can basically say what they want.

The moderators get rid of the crap bashing posts, They try and keep the topics to the topics so when you go into each room you get info you are looking for.

It is close to ball reviews cause we wanted to make it as familier as possible for users if they chose to go there. Many people have requested forums to be made and they are getting alot of use. I also added a auction style place where
people can sell their old equipment or they could also do it in the forsale/trades section.. I also added chat and there is going tobe some more really cool additions in the near future that I am working on..

Now having said that, I am not asking people to switch from coke to pepsi but
simply check it out and if they want post in both places..

100 GB should be enough for a while, I think.  I get 1,000 GB per month at allBowling.com and a ton of harddrive space.  Of course I host other websites on my server too.  The best part is that it is MY server... no other domains hosted on it other than the ones that pay me for it.  I have root access and can install any apps I need.

Thats cool. I mean I think 140 GB will be enough. Well see how it turns out. Fiber_Cut runs his own server and i just have a reseller account for my sites via a Hosting company in NJ.

I agree, I have only the domains on my servers that pay me. I have a bunch of great servers running OpenBSD and all icp raided with 4 200 gig drives.. and a gig of ram. I also have Sun Ultra series servers running FreeBSD sparc64 with
2 gig of ram in each for the hosting and they are rock solid. there is nothing better than having root on your own servers

We also colocate equipment and sometimes rent servers out. I will try and go down this week and get a pic of all my equipment.
