Who makes the best balls?
« on: January 09, 2007, 01:10:07 PM »
I like Storm the best so far. I hate ebonite because I think they make sponges and Brunswick was cool with me until I bought a Radical.

So I say Storm!

My thoughts are Storm covers have a good longevity and are most consistant on medium conditions but Lane 1 are unbeatable on the med/heavy conditions.

Ebonite are great for 10 to 20 games but die after that.

Brunswick all over the place either smooth and controllable or RADICAL...

Hammer/Columbia used to be the best 15 to 20 years ago but they haven't kept up with Storm and Brunswick (it will be interesting to see how L1 get on with Columbis covers, at the moment the HRG is a diamond)

I say Storm but lane 1 for extreme results when I am buzzing...

Personally, I match up pretty well with the solid PK18 cover from brunswick, outside of the nemesis (guessing because of the core?), I liked every other ball I have tried using that cover (older zones, several buzzsaws, khameleon, etc).  However, I have never liked the pearl version of PK18.  Outside of the original inferno, I have not liked ANY of the activator coverstocks (rest of the inferno line, multiple buzzsaws, and a couple Morich balls).  Right now, I really seem to like some of the M80 coverstock balls from Columbia.  I'm looking forward to trying out their new Optima coverstock ont he Big Shot.

Amen to that. I couldn't have said it better.

Every company makes good balls. However, as bowlers, we are all different and what works for bowler A, may not work for bowler B. I like Track stuff, doesn't mean they make the best stuff.

The best ball is the one that knocks down all of the pins.

Bingo!  I've only been bowling seriously for a couple of years but it didn't take me long to figure out that when you find something that works for you stick with it regardless of what others might be having success with.  For me, everything RotoGrip has produced has been perfect.  Too perfect in fact because I have managed to accumulate way too many of their balls  A good friend of mine (who has been bowling much longer than I have) loves Track and tried to get me to switch to them so I tried a few of their balls and none of them worked with my style.  Put my RG equipment in his hands and he's a complete hack.  Does that mean that RG is better than Track or the other way around?  Probably not, it just means that for me RG is the best fit and for him its Track.  Find what works for you as an individual and don't worry if it's not the "hot ticket".

My best matchups have been the Inferno line especially Ultimate, Absolute and now Scorchin but my Columbia Big Bully is my rock...that ball is great for me after my Brunswick balls all are rolling out and leaving weird splits or 7 pins.

Big Bully then gives me a bit more length and holds its energy.

Yes I have tried Lanemaster and next to Track in my hands they were the biggest piece of crap I had ever thrown.
All you have to do is read my signature and you will know what I match up to the best.

I guess you fellas hasn't tried any Lanemasters/Legends equipment yet. I haven't found anything better and have tried track, hammer, and ebonite. I would say Hammer and track are in a tie for runner up though.
