This is getting rediculous!
« on: February 15, 2005, 08:31:31 AM »
Last night in league, I actially had a good night & managed to keep all the shots near the headpin (the last 4 weeks have been totally dismal a.k.a the new nickname - The Big YANK!)

But instead of having a good 600 series, I was left dejected with a 556 because of...   get this.... 3 solid pocket 7-10 splits, 1 solid 8-10 split and a variety of back row single pin spares that was driving me just nuts!

Any thoughts on what might be causing me to leave all of these back row splits/leaves?  I tried switching balls, playing more direct, swinging it out a little more than normal.  Frustration is setting in and that's never a good thing!

a 8-10 is usually a sign of the ball hitting very weak
usually DOA-dead on arrival

if you have hand and its rolling out-move deeper to get into more oil. If you dont have hand-move right

I thought that the ball might have been burning up in the heads ( was throwing a Dynothane Anomaly at 1000 sheen finish), so I switched to my original inferno around the 4th frame of the second game which is polished to about 2000 grit and found that it was having similar results.  The OI was definately not rolling out, it was screaming back to the pocket & spraying pins all over the place.  I was leaving mostly single pins ( 9 & 10 pins mainly) and then about half way through the 3rd game, I buried another pocket 7-10.  It had alot of people staring cause the ball hit sooooo hard, and neither corner pin wiggled a bit!

The pocket 7-10s because your ball is coming in BEHIND the head pin.  The back row pins because when your ball hitting that hard BEHIND the head pin, it usually drives though the 5 pin straight back - no deflection off of the 5.  Take some hand out of the ball and/or don't play so much hook; take a straighter line.
