so we all know you can shoot honor scores, but...
« on: August 05, 2006, 01:19:16 PM »
how many different bowling houses can you do it at?  This is kinda another one of those house hack posts, but its more of a survey.  If you have rolled an honor score or multiple honor scores post how many different houses you've done it in and post the score you shot there.  I'll start

Lake Hazel Lanes: 2 300s 1 298(sport)
Westy's Garden Lanes: 1 300
Nampa Bowl: 1 299 1 800
Caldwell bowl: 1 300
Keglers Korner: 1 300
BSU Games Center Lanes: 1 298

I just find it funny when people have rolled upteen million honor scores but have only rolled them at one house.  I understand that sometimes its because there aren't any other houses in their area to bowl at but for most I don't think that is the case.  Anyway, just interested in hearing your responses.

Skyline Lanes - wood (AL) 300
Skyline Lanes - AMF synthetic (AL) 2x300
Camellia Lanes - AMF synthetic (AL) 2x300
Creekside Lanes - Brunswick synthetic (NC) 300

Not a ton of honor scores, but 4 different surfaces and 2 different states.  First two were with the same type ball, but two different weights and drill patterns.  The rest were all with different equipment (see profile).

Won't say how many houses...

But will say 3 different continents...:-)

ive got 1 300 at bowling green, 1 at strike and spare along with an 800, and a 298 at flamingo. plenty of 700's in all but thats not what were talking about lol. i also have a few 289's in all of them too. but there really the only few around, i did shoot 287 at thunderbird the first time i was there, and it was on a tough shot for junior masters...
i think thats respectiable for 2 years of bowling...

You are all making me depressed that I've yet to shoot an honor score in all of my 17.5 years of bowling. But none the less, I'll list some of my top high games/series even though they are not Honor scores. Only because I am proud of shooting them.

Sunset Lanes, Waukegan, IL: 279x5, 278x2 and 755 high series
Bertrand Lanes, Waukegan, IL: 286, 279x3, 277 and 739 series
Sheridan Lanes, Kenosha, WI: 288x2, 279,2, 278,3, 277x7 and 775 series

I have no doubt in my mind that I will eventually shoot an honor score, I have the confidance for it, just a matter of getting the right carry and breaks for it to happen.

In the 04-05 season I had 5 299's in 4 different houses across the state.

As for honor scores probably 50% have come out of 2 centers in my hometown that I've bowled the majority of my life in. The others  have come from bowling various tournaments across the state.
So I'd say 10-300's in Oshkosh.
7-300's various locations around the midwest.
8-800's Oshkosh.
3- 800's around the state.
299's are compareable to the 3's and 8's.

so from what I'm getting most people don't just stick it out at one house.  at least not the members here at ballreviews.  It really is funny to watch people talk about being able to average 230-240 at their house, but when they come to my house they averaged 155-160 (True Story).  Keep em comming though, we still aint finished yet

For me personally I've moved around from center to center and from night to night. Mostly I've moved because my friends seem to like certain centers that favor their games. Also as Classic leagues have been in the decline I've had to move to either handicap leagues or scratch leagues that have a limits placed on them.
Watching guys throw their 1st honor score is as much a thrill for me as it is for them.
Their are bowling centers I know I can average 235+ around town and I try to avoid bowling in them mainly because I get into "bad" habits in them that cost me good money when the shots are more demanding at tournaments.
So I'll stick to avearging around 225 in houses that make me work for it.
