Reverse adjustments........
« on: February 07, 2008, 03:17:16 AM »
I have to admit that I am not good at making adjustments.  I just do what feels right.  A lot of time this causes me problems.  My problem is that my game doesn't dial in until the third game.

So my question is, if my game dials in so late what kind of adjustments can I make to try and hit the pocket cleaner earlier in the night?  What are the reverse adjustments?  If I'm hitting the pocket solid late and hitting mostly light early what can I do to try and get to the pocket better early?

As I said, I am not very good with adjustments.  I recognize when I need to make them, I just don't know what adjustment to make.

Where do you usually start out bowling? What kind of leaves do you usually get and where is your ball hitting? What kind of speed do you have? What type of ball are you trying to use when you first start?

Try experimenting with moving your feet and mark to the right.

Well if you are a righty, move your mark and feet right a board or two.  Or you could try to move back several inches to allow your ball more time to hook and hit higher in the pocket.

I start with feet at 25, my mark is about 12 and my break is at 4-5 typically.  My leaves are typically left side.  Things like 4-7, 2-4.  ball speed around 17.5 average and I try to throw my Inertia most of the night.  It has a strong arc and lots of flare.

The rule of thumb is this if you miss the pocket to the left move your feet to left, keep same target. You cannot just stand in the same spot throw the ball at the same target , you have got to adjust. If you will use the above rule it will work. Also during the course of the night if your ball starts going high move your feet 2 boards to left and your target 1 board to left. Hope this will help you and good bowling

That is true...my first instinct is to blame myself for a bad shot.  That is pretty typical.  I will tell myself I am just missing my mark and that I need to focus more.  So I spend more time focusing on the approach...that is where I think I need to take a chance and make a move.

Thanks for all the comments!

are you left or right handed?  Basically, whichever way you are missing, move your feet in that direction.
