bowling on the cheetah pattern next week and this is 1 that I have not done yet

looking for input on what lines worked for you etc. and what equipment

Im pretty much a tweaner and i normally play inside the lane around 15 or 20 depending on volume
I throw close to about 19.5mph

has anyone had success on the inside part of the lane or is it a must to play this one out around the ditch ?

From the regional guys I've talked to it looks like stronger covers with more mild drillings are working best this year on the new cheetah. As usual, the outside is always the best line, but I've heard swinging out to the dry is pretty hit or miss on the new pattern. Try to drill up something to take the back end out of the ball and play straighter up the boards. There is a little heavier volume in the heads this year and the stronger covers have helped with pulled shots and recovery from shots farther out.

For me it has always been on the twig....

As for balls...have had success with both a polished and a dull ball..

Creature Pearl at 4000 with a 5 X 5 drilling...low rg gets it into a roll early and doesn't jump off dry..

Also used a Creature at 2000 with a 5 X 4 drilling..again early roll but not jumpy off the breakpoint...

I have bowled a few tourney's with a short pattern (Cheetah or similiar) and everyone who did well was up the twig..

Hope this helps!

I haven't bowled on the newer Cheetah pattern, but the older one always kicked my azz up and down in my PBA Experience league (on AMF HPL synthetics).  I always fought underreaction on any shots missed to the right unless I hit the 1 board (where there's zero oil), and the ball would hook early if I missed left, leaving a split.  And since I'm a lower rev guy and can't create as much entry angle as many people, I left a LOT of ringing 10 pins playing that far right at the breakpoint.  I finally managed to do well the last week I bowled on it using two balls.  I took my Dimension (5x5, ~2" pin buffer) and had the surface at 2000 abralon, then applied Valentino's UFO extender polish over that by hand.  It gave me length but also kept the ball reaction really smooth and arcing, so I was able to bring my breakpoint a little closer to the headpin, which for the way I roll the ball usually carries better and gives me more miss room.  I was able to stay up the back of the ball and bring my breakpoint in to about the 6 or 7 board doing this thanks to the extra length.  After I drug some of the oil from the front part of the lane down (remember, the Cheetah has a high volume of oil up front compared to most patterns!) and eased the transition from front to back, creating a little hold room left and some fresh hook right, I switched to a strongly-drilled Mars (4x3, pin under and right of ring finger, P3 x-hole) with the box finish and moved everything a couple boards right of where I was.  I stayed in the 190-220 range every game, which was much better than I was doing before!!

Play outside 5, straight up the boards.  I use a pin-in-palm T-Road Pearl, sanded to 2000 Abralon.  This puts the pin about 4.75 inches from PAP.  I also get away with a 4.5 inch pin, pin up Gravity Shift at OOB (1500 polished).  Both give me good length with good snap, but not too much snap where I'm leaving weird combinations of the back row.

I usually play around 2-3-4 board on Cheetah. There's only one time I've had to play it deep and it was because of an issue with how the lane machine was oiling the outside 5 boards.

Equipment will depend on lane surface - low or high friction. I've found I want a hook-sit or very gradual smooth reaction the first few games and something that goes longer with some(not too much) recovery once they break down.

I've had success throwing a Zone Classic pin next to ring and MB in track(3.5x6.5?), a pin in palm Power Groove with no x-hole and a Spit Fire with the pin above the ring finger 4.5x2.5 with a x-hole on my PAP. The first two balls worked good when it was fresh playing pretty straight. Later I'd switch to the Spit Fire when I had to start swinging it more and bumping it off the outside. I'm around 300rpm at 17-17.5mph.

My cheetah pattern ball has been a smash zone right up 5, picks up good in the mid-lane and finished really nice.

I struggled with any reactive gear on the new cheetah this season I have bowled on it twice in two different houses.

I had sucess however on it the last two games of a tourney a few weeks ago with a Desperado drilled pin over ring, just playing 14 or so out to around ten with enough speed to get it down aways before it hooked, when 235 205 the last two games qualifying with that ball and line.
