Here's a question I can't find a good answer for??
« on: December 16, 2003, 07:01:11 AM »
If I have a sanctioned average with both my left, and right hands, why cant I bowl in my local association tournament with myself in doubles if I meet all of the requirments???

you would have to bowl, one frame with your left and then right and then go back and forth, lol. it would be too comical for the other bowlers. but in theroy. i think you could do it.

Do you have to pay a second sanction fee to get two separate ID numbers from ABC?  Wouldn't that make you two "separate" people.  Sounds like you should be able to do it.

Ah,  Dude...doubles is two PEOPLE, not two entries or two IDs.  Now, if you've got split personality issues, then I know a very good psychiatrist who can....

You do not have to have two ABC cards in order to establish an ave with both hands.  We have a bowler who does that. He only has one card. He too asked if he could bowl singles twice. Once with his left hand and once with his right. He was told no because the rule in our tourney specified a Person can only enter once.
Now, if the rules that Rev mentions allows multiple entries for doubles and singles, I feel he should be allowed to do what he wishes he could do.

If there is a multiple entry singles event in this tournament, Rev could use either hand to bowl each time, provided there isn't a tournament rule stating otherwise.  Of course, if the tournament is handicapped, Rev would have to enter with that 240 right-hand average even if bowling left-handed.

However, why do you feel that if the tournament allows for multiple entries into the doubles, that Rev should be able to bowl doubles with himself?  As Phillip intimated, the spirit of a doubles event is to pair up with another person to compete.  No matter how many times he bowls, Rev is still one person with one ABC ID.  If it's not legal in this tournament for a person to bowl doubles with themselves the first time the person enters, it shouldn't be legal for multiple entries by this person either.
