We've moved our Touchtunes Jukebox
« on: April 30, 2009, 12:27:45 PM »
And now we have some issues.  When we bought the center the jukebox was in the corner of the building out of sight.  Now that it is in front of the counter it is doing 200 times the business.  Problem is now some league bowlers want the music turned up and others want it off.  Many times these people are on the same pair.  The vending company has given us an upgrade with new Bose speakers and Crown amps.  We can control the sound over 2 pair of lanes at a time.  This allows us to adjust the volume. Still we have some people getting rude with others.  One bowler said why don't you just turn it off.  When something like this makes the amount money it does I really don't want to turn it off.  Still searching for happiness.  I have even made adjustments to the play selections.  It's helped a little but still not perfect.  On the weekends the jukebox will go for up to 2 hours after we close.  Any thoughts on bowling with music.

We have the same issue at the center where I bowl. Younger guys like the
music, older guys want it off. Myself, I really don't care, except when
it is the songs with alot of bass and we're down on the ends by the woofers.
However, I will say I work in a noisy enviroment all day, and I would rather
have a nice visit with my team mates rather than try and talk over something
I would rather not listen to. We have had some of our older guys leave, and
have told the owner they will not be back. I guess if it was up to me
i'd have individual leagues vote on it at their organizational meeting. Then
you can make your choice if you are bowling or not.

To look at it from your way, how much revenue will you lose from bowlers
quiting vs. what you make on the jukebox?

Quite honestly I have always enjoyed music playing while bowling, it has never affected my ability to concentrate it actually helps me relax.  Now some bowlers that I have bowled against absolutely hate music playing they say that it is to distracting.  Your real dilemma is your never going to make everyone happy.

Good luck!
