CLASH--- Belmonte v. Rash
« on: February 04, 2014, 05:24:16 PM »
Have not seen any post regarding this telecast. I thought it would be boring, but ended up watching to the last ball was thrown. Would not mind seeing some othe one on one matches between my favorites. Maybe Duke v. Weber. Or Barnes v. Mallot.

Also, did anyone notice that they listed Mastermind Genius as 9.5 and the Mastermind as 9.0.  I realize that layout can be, and in this case did, affect ball strength and reaction. Rash used the Mastermind on the shorter pattern, so I must assume he layed it out less aggressively and used the strong cover to blend the over under off the dry. Still, I think that this was somewhat misleading for the novice.

There was no transition.  Belmo made one ball change, and since they play two different parts of the lane they stayed out of eachother's way.

Fine.  I like the visual break down with the blue oil and watching them move left, even though it was only slightly.

I watched and it was an ok telecast.  It does get kinda of boring just watching the same two guys in my opinion.  I actually would like a show where maybe they only televise the top 3 players in a step ladder and use the remainder of the show showing highlights of the qualifying/match play rounds.  Obviously this wouldn't work for LIVE shows, but how many live shows are there now-a-days anyhow.

I also liked having bowlers in the broadcast booth.  They give real insight/opinions other than just the "i'll try to spice this up stuff"  It was also very apparent Couch doesn't think very highly of Belmo.  All in all it was a good show

They did that a couple of years ago and the howls of protest have just died down.
Long Gone also posts the honest truth which is why i respect him. He posts these things knowing some may not like it.

If you want to see qualifying/match play rounds & any other telecast or match play, just get Xtraframe. It is only $65 dollars a year! Xtraframe is a great feature that the PBA has worked very hard to get going. Without our support, it will die out just like the PBA has over the years. The sport needs new interest and new supporters and it all starts with us!

xtrama = listening to 2 fat dudes breathe into a microphone while a cell phone sized camera transmits a standard def feed to your computer.

I like extraframe.  It allows me to watch bowling that I would not otherwise see for a measly 65 bucks a year.

I don't need to see the whole match play or qualifying rounds, just highlights.  I have kids which equals no time during the week to watch a computer screen.  Highlights of how the players got there/ players that just missed the cut, etc.  I support bowling 100 times more than a $65 fee for xtra frame.

It's not about supporting bowling. We all support that through league fees and USBC membership fees, etc. I am talking about supporting the PBA. We all talk about the limited TV time and measly winnings, yet we don't take the time to support the broadcasts they work hard to produce, (aka xtraframe).

I agree, it would be nice to watch any pair you want. That would be awesome. The only way that will happen, is to increase the subscribers by __ amount. It's hard to say what it would take, but the bottom line is the more revenue the PBA can generate, the better the productions will be. If the broadcasts on ESPN had better ratings, they would get more air time, better time slots, etc.

It was actually a pretty good show, good bowling from both.

We do know one thing though.  Jason Couch hates the two handed style as he called it a travesty to the sport.
