Pin and Pin buffer questions?
« on: October 30, 2011, 02:16:06 PM »
Im trying to understand layouts of bowling balls...  When i see something say 5X3X2?

The 2 is referring to the pin buffer?.... Is the pin buffer the distance from the pin to pap?

or is it when you order a bowling ball they ask you how long of a pin you want? like 1-2' or 3'4' on most sites?  like the actually pin to cg i think its called?
I guess in short i wanna understand pin buffer definition

The 2 means that the pin is placed 2" from the VAL...

Thus a 5 by 3 by 2 is

The pin is 5" from the pap, The { PSA } MB is 3" from the pap, and the pin is 2" from the val...

There is also an older system in which the third number is the distance above the grip midline.  Don't know if anyone still uses it.  --  JohnP
