cleaning ball
« on: October 29, 2008, 04:55:09 AM »
i was wondering can you use household products to clean your bowling ball? i'm hoping it will keep me from going to the pro shop and buying bowling accessories that are kind of high compare to grocery store prices on household products that i kind save money on.

You can use simple green and water mixture. I just find it leaves a residue not sure how to get rid of it but I am sure someone on here will know.

I think it's equal parts Simple Green, water, and isopropyl alchohol. The isopropyl is what prevents residue from forming, I think. I think some have posted the water should be warm or room temperature. Haven't tried it, so I don't know.

I've also seen a similar recipe that substitutes Simple Green with dish washing liquid. Again, haven't tried it.

Someone more knowledgeable will chime in, I'm sure.

I use several things when cleaning.  For most cleanings I use Simple Green and water, then hit the ball with Zapp-It bowling ball cleaner.  If I have belt marks or sticky dirt I use the new Ebonite foam cleaner, then the Simple Green and the Zapp-It.  I pour Zapp-It straight into my ball resurfacer.

I use a 50/50 mix of Simple Green and 90% alcohol. The alcohol will cause evaporation so it's nice and tacky right after.

There used to be a recipe on BR.

I use 50/50 mixture of a glass cleaner with ammonia and simple green. Then I add a couple of oz. of isopropyl(rubbing) alcohol. Makes about a half gallon at a time.  Works pretty good with no residue.

Go to the Dollar Store and get this product.

LA's Totally Awesome.

It sells for $1.09

That's because here in Cook County, the Dems are in power, and they tax us to death.

But this product is great.

You can thank me later.

If you're going to go the full 10 yards, Charles, might as well go with acetone and diamond dressing disks.
