the oil to get oil out of the ball is to heat it up, uniformly to about 140* and it just bleed out. the way to do this in a revivor oven at the proshop. many people have homemade ovens using a food dehydrator. people also put the ball in a dishwasher and 5 gallon bucket with hot water in it. some people even put the ball in the cooking oven but it isnt recommended because it gets way too hot very easily and only heats one side of the ball at a time which promotes cracking

Per Cheech's reply, I have had very good luck with the 5 gallon bucket of hot water method. I put it in the bathtub and fill with the hottest water that will come out of the tap and let it soak. Periodically I pull the ball out and wipe the access oil off with a microfiber towel then adding fresh hot water and repeat until no more oil comes out. Going to the pro shop is an expensive and safe alternative but not all pro shops have revivor ovens. I have also tried the cooking oven with mixed results. I have had it work very well but I have also had a ball crack immediately after using that method so I now just stick to the hot water method. As a side note, make sure you pull any tape out of the finger holes of the ball before heating it or you will loosen the glue and leave a nasty residue inside the holes. Be sure to let the ball dry out well before use. Hope that helps.

A number of posters have favored the dishwasher method. The heat is evenly applied. It sounds a bit nutty, but I have used my wife's hair dryer to draw oil from the ball. You place the ball on a towel and rotate the ball as you apply the heat. This procedure is time consuming, but it definitely works.

I've been using NuBall, a rejuvenator oven for the past 3 months or so. It removes the oil from balls very easily and quickly.

Here's their home web site:
http://scbp.biz/

It can be purchased there, at Amazon

or at BlockBuster bowling,
