going to put my x factor in the oven this morning to get some of the oil
out of it.what temp? how long? do i just wipe it down when it
comes out or do i put cleaner on it?

125 degrees and wipe it down every 5-10 minutes.

i have used the dishwasher before and wasnt happy with it.

Wipe it off as it bakes. When you feel the ball is done, let it cool and then clean it as you normally would.

I know I’m going to catch some flak on this but all I can say is it works for me. Don’t know how or why.
About once every 2-3 months I put my equipment in a bucket of kitty litter and let it set for a week.
If you want to test the method, take a hair dryer and heat up a spot on the ball and watch the surface turn wet. Cover the ball with kitty litter for a week, then hit the ball with the hair dryer again and see the difference.
PS: If you have a cat, make sure you cover the bucket!

This is the worst possible way to extract oil from a ball. The heat from the oven may be too much for the ball and will extract plasticizers from the coverstock causing it to lose more reaction and potentially killing the ball. The heat could also cause the core and coverstock to become separated and well, either way you have a ball that is now junk.
The best way to do this at home is to either use the dishwasher method, and be sure to shut the drying cycle off or fill a pail/bucket with hot tap water and degreasing dish detergent. Submerge ball for 15 minutes, take out and wipe with rag and ball cleaner. Repeat as needed.
