Anybody got any of those clear urethane balls, like the ebonite skull or the bottle of bud.

What are they like for scratches and cleaning... do they go dull?

ive got a gemstone...hardest d meter spareball you can get(but has a real weight block, yes harder than storm spare)...marks up less than my soccer ball did...not sure if it has exactly the same cover as the skull ball...but it is a clear ball(colored)

i have an everclear by hammer and it is holding up well. i just clean it with rubbing alcohol. i get very minor scratches from time to time from machinery but nothing like what my strike balls get. and considering how many times i drop the everclear in the drink shooting for the 10 pin that is a good thing martha.

I have the watermelon ball from clearballs.com. I've had it for over a year and it doesn't have any big scratches. I just use the same cleaner I use on my reactive balls.

i have the snuffy from ebonite. The ball did get some scratches from going in the gutter and bouncing out, but nothing too huge/ nothing in the track. The ball does track up a little quickly, but cleaning it with some water and a little soap gets rid of everything. I dont even have to use anything stronger than this to clean it. It goes about as straight as any plastic ball, just remember to get it polished every few months. I had a white dot before this, but it was so tracked up and hooked so much it was unuseable. hopefully this ball will not get to that point, but we'll see how it goes.

I've had two clear balls The Clear Wolf and a Snuffy optyx. I wont get another clear ball. I had the clear wolf maybe a month, it hung up in the machine and it carved a quater inch wide stripe all around the ball. So I resurfaced it and a week later it happened again. Plus it discolored from the lane oil.
The Snuffy was a great spare ball and didnt track up and the kids loved it. Then I shot at a ten pin with it it fell in the gutter hit something and when it came back. The ball had shattered from the finger holes almost half way around the ball. Luckly the house replaced for me (got a vis-a-ball smiley face ball)
At least mine had lasted longer than the others I seen. They all had shattered (heard they were a defective batch, mine was from a different batch)

I say dont take the chance with the clear balls.

I received a Storm Football as part of the entry in a Pro AM in January, 2003. I have been using it as my spare ball, and on some conditions, a strike ball. It has held up great.

I get it cleaned and polished on a regular basis. My pro shop guy has even commented on how well it has held up. Yes there are a few scratches, but after cleanining it looks almost new.

It has also been on at least a dozen plane trips.
