I don't know how else to describe it. It usually happens about once a set. As back backswing is on the way up, before it gets to its peak, I'll feel the tendons in my hand "pop" starting at the base of my hand and going up between my middle and index fingers. It doesn't hurt, my fingers do tingle a little bit. The first time it happened, it freaked me out and I couldn't tell if I hurt myself or not. When it happens, unless I'm able to stop myself, my hand flattens out and I can't get anything on the ball unless I yank up on the release-not exactly a habit I want to get into.
I've started using a Mongoose wrist brace in league and most of the time when I practice, although lately I haven't been using it as much during practice just because I want to try to get out of using the brace by next season if possible. I've also been using an hand strengthening device at work-I sit at a desk and it keeps my hands busy. It doesn't happen that often, but when it does, it seems like it's at one of the worst times possible and it's hard to recover.
I haven't had any wrist/hand problems in the past and I've just started the desk job about two months ago-so it's not related to that. Any other suggestions about what to do, or why it started to begin with would be appreciated.
I'm by no means a cranker, probably fit more in the tweener when it comes to revs. I've never actually tried to figure the numbers for myself. My ball speed at the pins (for my strike ball) usually hovers around 14-15 mph. Thanks again for the input.
I don't think I made it clear, but the wrist brace doesn't seem to help all that much, though I generally throw more consistantly with it on, the main reason I'm continuing to use it through this season. My hand still pops, through lately not as much. I threw 7 games last night, one set with my TI, followed with a set with a Super Charge, and the last game throwing the White Dot at 10 pins, and my hand didn't pop once.
