Bad pin carry
« on: March 24, 2009, 08:37:50 AM »
I would like to know how i can tackle bad pin carry.

i am not talking about leaving ringing tens one after another i am talking about hitting almost dead flush and leaving weak tens just getting the 8 10 out or leaving the 8 10. how could i tackle this.

I generally see these leaves when i am trying to go strait up the boards by going up the back.

any advice on tackling these carry problems

Increase angle to the pocket by using a ball that goes just a touch longer and turns harder.

If you don't want to change balls, try moving back or forward on the approach about six inches or adjust a half board to the left or right.

My favorite trick is to open my pinky finger a bit and turn it slightly in.  Usually does the trick.

there you go.. there is your problem.. up the back is your problem.  That won't create any angle on the backend and that is what you need to carry.

If you like the look of the ball try to hit a little heavier in the pocket.

When I swing the ball and have an angular backend I can get away with a little lighter in the pocker.  If I am playing straighter up with more of an arc I have to hit heavier.  It almost looks too heavy but it seems to work.

its hard to tell without seeing the ball. where is the ball at the arrows? and break point?

These leaves are caused by the ball being DOA....you need to take the surface up and go up the boards with your normal release instead of trying to come straight up the back of the ball.

good luck.
