Columbia Beast
« on: March 29, 2012, 02:39:52 PM »

My leaguemate throws a Columbia Beast.  It has been a good ball for him in past years but for some reason the ball just doesn't react like it use to.

He bought a used Hammer Jigsaw Trap and is really struggling with it.  The reaction is extremely different than his Beast.  IMO, the Beast is more arching; while the Trap is more angular.

What bowling balls marketed today would be similar to the Beast ?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I would wait and suggest getting the new Columbia Freeze Solid.  If he wants something just a little more aggressive, but same type of roll i would suggest the Columbia Benchmark.

The Seismic Blackout and the 900Global Hook Solid are fairly close to the Beast type of ball. Both are slightly stronger to handle today's oil but are very close reaction wise. Both are also polished solids, made in the same plant as the Beast, and whose coverstock comes from the same family, made by the same resin makers, BASF, who supplied resins to the old Columbia300 family.
