I remember the original Icon.  Several people in my league back in '02 or so had it, and every single person who threw it had trouble with leaving weak 10 pins constantly.  I have never seen a ball since that was that prone to leaving weak 10s.  Probably they had the wrong surface on it for those conditions,  but still funny to watch.

I just recently drilled up an Icon, it's a great piece.  Came polished from the factory despite being a particle coverstock.  Rolls smooth and carries very well for me.  I'll shoot a little video of it today and post it later.

Very smooth even piece.  In one of our local houses is a harsh wet dry I can't miss the pocket.  It is a piece with a ton of midlane and a smooth controllable backend.  An angled weighthole could change the piece to a more ripping backend.

When it is dryer for the same condition I go to the panic.

The core of the Icon is the same core as the Wicked which was a great solid
reactive piece that was lumbering but with good strong backend!

I still use it's companion piece the Icon 2 which is a particle with lower flare and less midlane but very nice backend.  (I have two!)

I remember watching Walter Ray about 5 or so years ago when these came out making a lot of shows using an Icon, Icon2 combo...every week.

The general consensus on the Icons seemed to be that the cover strength mellowed quickly which may have added to the reputation of them "hitting weakly".

As promised a little video of the Icon.  Threw my old Rampage with it to get a comparison.  Sorry about the angle...
