I recently got a Columbia Hyde off E-Bay, and I think its a second.
Question is, how can I tell for sure?
The little hand is not on this ball so the CG is not indicated in that fashion, although it does have a dot mixed into the Columbia 300 label which I am assuming got misplaced which is why I think its a blem or second ball.
Specs on the ball are......4" pin, 3 1/4 oz. of top wt. Assuming the "dot" I see is the CG, what would be the best drill pattern for me?
I am a stroker with normal revs, and slightly higher then normal speed.

Well cool, maybe its not a second.
Question of drilling though, any thoughts on this?

As a rule Columbia does Logo seconds as Columbia but stamps them as Bonanza.I woundn't worry, just have your driller preweigh the ball before layout and you'll be fine.

i got into some nice seconds-original wicked
they had a big white X on them, but full logos
they had slight color problems

Dont swing it-if you cant bring it
When in doubt-swing it out

Fancy lingo aside........I play my Icon300 by rolling it over the second arrow and letting it come into the pocket from there......on very dry lanes, I play my plastic the same way.......this seems to work for me so I guess I would be looking for something similar in reaction from the hyde givin the right conditions of coarse. I wouldnt mind a slightly strong turn to the pocket just for a change, but still be able to control it would be key.

Sounds like your #2 is what I might be what Im looking for, in fact it almost sounds close to how the Icon is drilled.
I tried to show my Icon drill and it didnt work.......oh well.
