Another "Review"
« on: August 25, 2003, 06:34:30 PM »
Folks, the reviews should be that, reviews.  Not personal messages, not hopes, not statements that someday you will throw the ball.  Just this morning, this:

Drilled my Phenom 4" Pin and 4" MB. The pin is above the ring finger at the grip's edge. The Mass Bias is in the strong position to the right of the thumbhole. This will get the ball to set up midlane and react strong on the back end. I will throw this ball on a heavily oiled 40 ft wood lane tomorrow and will post my review very soon, so stay tuned.

I know I am being picky, but don't write that you plan to review the ball, don't write you need something or other personal messages.  Rant finished.

I guess I'm not known enough here to say the same thing as terminator4, but I don't think that is appropriate either.

Someday I will throw the AZO Fantasy X pearl.........hopefully I will like it.

As others have stated before, there is too much knowledge on this website to be wasted that way or other ways in the past.

A_P_K,

Didn't you use to be Pin_Krusher? I didn't see the transition notice.

There is no reason for you not to mention reviews that are useless or self-serving. YOu know what is useful tot you and what is not. 90%+ of the people who come here only read. For them to see some of these reviews are worse than useless; they are counter-productive. They see so very many reviews that are complete and utter gibberish, like the one shown above by terminator4, and they must tell themselves, "Why should I bother to come here; this information, if you can call it that, tells me nothing."

Term4 and A_P_K,

We can site horrible reviews like this til kingdom come; unfortunately, it seems to do no good.

ambi,

Referring to duda's comment, if you noticed, he does NOT have a profile.  Therefore, that post is worthless!  The statement itself has no validity what-so-ever, and I hope that it was an attempt at a joke.

And to charlest and termonator, I wholly agree, that reviews should be done after a ball has been tested at least once, if a person wants to add that that they will be using it again on a different condition, and that a re-review will be in the near future, then that would be okay.

Yes charlest I had to switch my username because too many people went by Pin Krusher period.  So...I went with a suggestion from jeffrevs and chose just initials.

I log onto this site everyday looking for the advice that is offered by people such as yourself and Terminator04, which it looks like 8 out of 10 times the reviews aren't showing that.

I'm not that up on the technical aspect of bowling and choose to rather ask certain people that rely on that type of info shown above.

Saw: duda a history of making profound statements. However, in his own way I believe he means well, so don't let the comments get to you.

As far as shallow reviews, it's always been that way and will continue on. The bottom line is that the owners of the site do not want to do anything that will restrict the viewing audience. It's ultimately about generating traffic to enhance advertising revenue. After a while you get numb to most of the reviews and are able to pick out the few that have value.

I used pink because that is what I thought of the review.  Also wanted to make peaches and clutchy feel right at home.  I don't like pink.

If the people think that because I use the Track Enforcer and it totally destroys the pins it will do the same for them, then they are in for a treat when they get the ball for themselves.

For one it is a high load particle and can't be used on light or open patterns, and my style is different from the next man's.

That type of mainstream review or advertising is a part of why most bowlers that aren't serious use the wrong equipment for the wrong reasons.  Then you have the crybabies whining about some ball didn't hook for them when it did for the 215 average bowler.

I thought that "review" was just a waste of time....

Anyways, onto the review subject in general. I feel that there is no way someone should post a review before they have 15-20 games on a ball atleast. They could post and say the really dislike it, then throw it on a condition it was meant for and love the ball. Too many people jump to post just because they have a new ball. But they should throw it for a little while before actually posting a review. One night out....3 games or so could be worthless in tell you about a ball. I know some of my reviews are vague as well.

If the person is excited about a ball that are GOING to have drilled, then they should post something like that in the company's forum. If they have thrown the ball only 3-10 games or so, then they should post a quick opinion about it in the company's forum. Before someone posts a review on a ball they should at least get to know the characteristics of the ball first.
