A suggestion for Joe Falco, and other internet purchasers
« on: December 23, 2010, 02:55:19 AM »
I have been reading, and responding a bit, to some of the threads involving internet retailers vs. Ebonite International.

Guys like Joe feel that they are paying more for internet purchases from Ebonite International, and are willing to boycott their products in response to the e-tailers' price increases.

There is another solution that I had not thought of until today. That is, to become a PBA member. Any PBA member is allowed a very nice discount on up to (2) balls of just about every manufacturer's releases. The discount includes shipping direct from the manufacturer.

When you use this PBA benenfit, you get the bowling ball for the cost, OR LOWER, than the current distributor cost. AND, you provide support to the PBA in return.

It's just something that I threw out there for people to think about.

Curious what there price is and how that compares when bowling balls are say discontinued?

Many great offers come available on here and other sites including ebay for bowling balls below Proshops cost. If the PBA players cost is the same as most proshops then why bother. (if for that reason only.)

230n .. you are correct ..

I have a number of friends (sorry to correct one of the members here but it's a little more then 2)where some of them are card holders but all of them are much younger then I. Not having any interest to get involved when I was younger held me back from even being aware such options were available. I have always been a leisure bowler who enjoys competition. That feeling has never died!

Good thought though!

Incidentally .. Merry Christmas to all!

Joe,

You don''t ever have to compete to enjoy the benefit of the discount.

The other plus side to this is that the PBA gets some support. If more bowlers took advantage of this, it could be a win-win situation for both the bowler and the PBA.

(Hmmm, perhaps the PBA should push this more?).

Are the "discounts" enough to offset the cost of the PBA membership?

Like it was said earlier the pricing is the same as from a distibutor and sometimes lower.  I don't know about the two ball limit but the discount is only for the newest releases and its only for a certain period of time.  This is not hearsay I am a card holder.
