Company Websites
« on: February 01, 2005, 02:02:41 AM »
Hey all...

What are the company websites missing?  Whether it be ball description, help, etc, etc....

What are they missing and what would you like to see on your favorite companies website ?

NOTE: This note is not company specific, so you can / should answer in generic terms...however, if there is something you enjoy about a certain site,...list it!

So...what is it? What would you want to see !?

Videos.  Oh yeah, more videos!!!  Wouldn't it be nice to see somebody throw a ball that has a similar axis tilt as yours?  It sure would make it easier to pick out a ball rather than asking people who have completely different styles for feedback on a bowling ball.

Stats on their older obsolete equipment with the release date so people can date their older stuff.

Visionary added their older discontinued balls after I asked about it.

Ditto. Lane#1 doesn't get enough props for the quality of their site. It blows most of the others away.

What I would really like to see:
An animated ball going down a lane, with my layout set-up in the ball.

I would have to punch in my pap numbers, ball speed, revs, etc. (Maybe stats from the C.A.T.S.-type system?). I would punch in a standard manufacturer's drilling (like the drill sheets they already have), for a particular ball. Hit PLAY, and would get a fair idea of a ball's reaction.

I could punch in lane condition, throw the ball . . . then change the lane condition, and see what the ball would do.

I imagine the Brunswick Throwbot software does something along that line, when they test balls. Why not develop an animated on-line system?  I have emailed this to  a few different manufacturers (Brunswick since they have the Throwbot, Storm, Ebonite), over the past several years, with no response.

Does anyone else, think this would be a great tool? It would really help "the lost" understand ball dynamics, and such.

I guess some individual bowler will have to do the development.

Brunswick contacted me tonight (email), they forwarded my email to Bill Wasserman.
I don't know him, but the name sounds vaguely familiar. I also sent it to Storm, Ebonite, Lane #1, Lanemasters, and Track.

I really don't think this would be a difficult project for a company that had enough R&D funds.

This is from STORM'S TECH DEPT.:

Rick,
You have a great idea. It would really help out the bowlers that know all of their coordinates. I'll pass this info along. But I believe the $$ to develop this will exceed the value. Keep the great idea's rolling. I always love to hear new idea's. Thanks for your email.
