Frustrated with league bowlers....

Why can't I have one bad night of bowling without someone calling me out on being a sandbagger the following week when I do bowl good.

First night of league, using my Dynamo-X and Gemstone.  I wasn't getting a good read with either ball.  I got frustated early one and carried that cross through all three games.  I don't remember what my set was but I ended up with 39 pin handicap!  YOUCH!  I've never had more than 5 pins handicap before.  

So yesterday afternoon, I have new focus.  I pulled out my old Brunswick faitful - Wild Ride, Avalache Pearl, Avalanche Slide, (Smash Zone cracked).  I threw a few practice games during lunch and when I got to league night, I was ready.  My series for the night, 205, 235, 214.  I was happy as a clam but the opposing team immediately cried foul.

I got the stinky eye and a lot of grumbling.  As I was leaving the opposing team was chatting up the league president.

*sigh*  I love this game.

i know the same thing im good friends with a guy who whenever i mention im bowling bad (i put it a bit worse though) they just say "it happens you're better than this so shrug it off". but we have guys that if you throw one gutter ball even if its like once a season they go off shouting drainball and things like that and maybe if you miss a ten pin they rip on you

I'll joke around with friends when they have a bad week or 2 about bagging but to get called out in the 2nd week of a league with people seriously calling you a bagger?  Sound like you bowl with a few people in need of a good power wash on their sandy cooters.

Seriously, never had anyone say that word during league. Second, no one is sick enough to seriously sandbag on purpose. Third, most decent leagues have a 9 game average establishment so something like this couldn't happen on purpose. Fourth, many people bowl bad on the first league night. Fifth, league meetings are necessary to attend even though some of it is laughable but someone needs to make a stand to people making stupid notions and so they don't get passed!

I really don't pay too much attention to the whiney bowlers.

I have always been of the belief that if you need an extra advantage (more handicap than you are truly entitled to) it simply means that you are a terrible bowler and do not deserve to bowl against me.

BIG AGREE with that there. If you "throw off" on purpose as Blows put it, then you are truely a sandbagger and a disgrace to bowling in general. You don't deserve to be bowling in tournament's. I hate sandbagger's. I'm looking forward to my wednesday night leauge, there's a sandbagger in that leauge who think's he's fooling everyone he bowl's against. Love it when he talks crap cause all that does for me is get me fired. I have my best night's when I'm bowling against his team.

Easy,  relax,  you are not a SB... You see a real SB would have shot under 500,  he then would have kicked the ball return, many times.  He would have bounced his balls after bowling....  He would have cussed  out the bowling alley, calling it a bone yard...And he would have given the 10 oin, the 10 pin salute....You would have heard him yell, "the shot sucks"

Now if you did none of these,  then you are not a SB..

You had a bad first night, and shot over your head the second nite.

That is all...

I bowled in a league back in Sioux Falls that the first 21 games that you bowled in that league you either used your last years league average for that league. If you did not bowl in that league you used your high book average. That really seemed to help out a lot.

In my fall league we have a ±5 pin adjustment on your handicap for the first 9 games if you have a book average. Your handicap can't drop any lower than 5 pins or go up 5 if you start out under average.
