So I'm sitting there watching the finals today......
« on: January 10, 2004, 10:48:15 PM »
and when Walter Ray won sitting on the bench, I noticed that he started to shake his head like he couldn't stand to win like that.  Does anyone in here feel the same way if they win on the bench?  I don't care if I win on the bench or not just as long as the win is mine.  Agree?  Disagree?  Let me know!

The way things have gone for me lately, I will take a win when I finish up and get the win, when I am sitting on the bench, when I am at the bar getting another drink, in the bathroom, or half way to the parking lot. A win is a win (not too sound too competitive). Its unfortunate when your opponent makes a bad shot or gets a bad break to lose, but thats how cruel this game can be. Besides I have a little Walter Ray syndrome in me; I have had 3 guys shoot 300 on me, 2 299's and an 800. I've had my share of whippings in my day and I'm still just a youngin' at 24!

But that must have really sucked for Lonnie. I wouldnt be suprised if he commits suicide over that.

Typically I despise the youth of this board because of their childish behavior, but that was down right funny.  Oh yeah, Walter Ray really did turn up the heat on ol' Lonnie by finishing strong.

Losing because you needed to step up and didn't is a whole different thing than being shut out by your opponent before you get up to bowl in the 10th.
I have won back to back NWWCBA titles - one each way.
The win where I had the opponent shut out in the 8th or 9th frame was infinitely more rewarding (to me) than the one I won because I'd finished, my opponent needed 8 out for the win, and left a big 4. I bowled well that game - it wasn't completely handed to me - but in the first case, I was in control of my fate - not my opponent.

However, when someone asks how many of the titles I've won, my answer is ALWAYS 2.

I'm sure that WRW is thrilled with his exemption.

Sidenote - I watched Lonnie in the round of 32 against Tim Mack - He beat him 4-1 - but Mack bowled awful. I think he had at least 2 games under 170 in that match.

I'm sure Walter Ray
