Considering a spinner...
« on: February 05, 2009, 07:09:28 AM »
And was looking at the Vertex Mold website...and a question arose...

Is there any big, noticable advantage in having a 1/2 HP motor over a 1/3 HP motor?

Is it time or quality related?

Thanks!

Go with the 1/2 hp, because when you clean your bowling balls you need to put alot of pressure on the ball.If there isn't much of the price differance go with the 1/2 hp will last longer, and it's a heavy duty motor. Good Luck

I agree plus it will last you for years, don't want to skimp on a spinner.once you have it you'll wonder how you ever lived with out one.

so long.

As others have said, if there isn't a huge price difference, go with the 1/2 HP spinner.

My father got one a couple of years ago and I don't know how we managed without one for so long.  Its makes cleaning our equipment so easy and fast.  Makes it a whole lot easier to change surfaces if we want to try something.

Probably one of the best bowling investments we've ever made.  All he does is order polishes and cleaners online for relatively cheap and we are all set.

my experience with spinners is that it was the best investment I have ever made toward bowling.. I have used both innovative and donkee spinners.. I have never used a vertex before.. innovative is a very durable and heavier spinner, good product but a little on the expensive side I feel.. donkee spinners are lighter in weight but are also very durable(best bang for your buck out of the 2).. I would suggest a 1/2 hp with a 2 speed motor,(lowspeed) for cutting/resufaceing and (high speed) for cleaning and polishing.. also get yourself a footpeddle, it makes it a little easier turning on/off instead of having to reach around all the time.. both companies have web sites you can visit.. good luck with your adventure .. slashrr69

I agree, I've only had the Donkee but it has held up well over 5 years. Get splash guard and foot pedal.

I think I had my Donkee even longer.the foot pedal would be nice but the splash sheild is a waste IMO.what I ended up doing is placeing the spinner in a rubbermaid* container and that works for a sheild and storage.you have to clean it out evry once and awhile but no big deal.the only problem I had was I fried a switch a few years back but Granger had a replacement switch.

I have the 1/2 HP Vertex Mold spinner and I've never been happier with my purchase. The best investment I've ever made to my bowling game. Based on Vertex's website, both models have the same RPM, so the only real difference would be price and power output. Also, with only a $30 diff between both models, I wouldn't mind having that extra power for just a little more. I didn't buy any of the extras. I live in an apt with no garage or shop area, so I just don't need all of the extras.

My spinner has taken everything I've thrown at it. I've owned it less than a year and it's already paid for itself. I'd get the 1/2 HP. You won't be disappointed.
