I think good simple technique leads to consistency.  Get a coach or videotape yourself and try to simplify your game.

It doesn't matter what the coach himself can do, it matters that they can tell you what you need to do. I have seen quite a few coachs who weren't the greatest bowlers, but were awesome teachers. I have also seen many of the opposite ones as well, guy avgs 230 and thinks he can tell everyone how to bowl, but only wants you throw the ball like him.

Just my $.01223 worth.

No seriously, these guys just tell us to "roll the ball" and "keep your shoulder up".. thats pretty much all they know.

Although, there are some good bolwers around here that give lessons, but i dont have the money they want for it.

Find a speed and revrate that you're comfortable throwing all day. Also make sure to take the time you need on the approach. Not just preparing for the shot but also not rushing the foul line. The increase in power is just not worth the inconsistancy that it can create (This has been one of my downfalls for quite some time).
I've reduced my strike shot to about 15mph with low revs and my hammer still manages to blow the pins off the deck .
