Initiating push away
« on: November 28, 2012, 01:51:48 PM »
I have a question as I have been practicing a lot trying to free up my arm swing/improve my game. When you start the push off do you use your left hand to start the push off? I'm trying to keep as much of the weight in my left hand but once I push off my right arm takes over and starts controlling the back swing and I feel I'm muscling the down swing as well and hitting up on the ball.

Push off with both hands like you are setting the ball on a table.  Let your left hand go and let the ball fall into the swing.

I urge you to look on youtube at Norm Duke's video lessons.  He has one that is great.  You dig both elbows in the sides, hands together like an open book with palms up.  He tells you how to shift weight of ball from bowling hand to non-bowling hand.   I started this, with all weight on left hand and simply "roll" my left hand over to the right and the weight transfer starts my swing.  No pushing up, no pushing out, no dropping ball.  I am now in better time than ever before.  Check it out.  It works.   ;D

Just practice that technique at home.  You'll feel it work right away.

Yeah I found the norm duke videos on nextlevelbowling.com. Watching those is making me really consider buying norm's new coaching video that came out that they keep playing in my local pro shop
