How to stop dropping ball at release.....
« on: January 04, 2007, 01:08:00 AM »
I am looking for some assistance. I have a friend who is learning how to bowl and he is struggling with dropping the ball behind the foul line at his release. Is there anything I can suggest to get him to stop doing this?

I have to chime in hear and say it's most likely a thumbhole problem as well. I have too much reverse pitch in one of my balls and that forces a quicker release. OR, it could be that your thumbhole is just too big (most likely the case).

How to fix: I would recommend that you refer to BTM's Dec issue where there is an article on setting your thumb. I can tell you that to set your thumb, you have to insert your thumb and straighten it out so that your nail touches the backside of the hole, tug forward and it is set. Using this technique has greatly improved my release, my form, and my game.

I got my second 900 last week while pre-bowling. NOW, prove that I didn't do it!
