Crankers VS Strokers
« on: February 25, 2007, 05:46:56 AM »
I don't want to start a war but just for fun, it would be interesting to know: in your centers are there more crankers or more strokers amongst 200+ bowlers?

T.J.

BOWLING IS FUN NO MATTER WHAT YOU SCORE. BUT A 300 IS ALWAYS NICE.

STRIKE ZONE, ONSLAUGHT, REVS, FLIP & PYRO. STAND 22 AND THROW 10 OUT TO 5 AND CRUSH THE POCKET. AT LEAST THAT IS THE PLAN OF THE NIGHT...

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD BOWLING!!!

Strokers, by far.

The proprietor likes to keep the shot just a bit on the dry side ( for me anyways ) and it makes the crankers have to play VERY deep.

There is also an "out-of-bounds" if you swing the ball all the way out to the ditch. Crankers usually find that the heads and mids hook a touch early, so they adjust their feet to play deep, but have to be careful not to swing it into the no-no zone.

It is much easier to score here going up the boards than it is to swing them a lot.

i think you'll find that except in a league situation with a "house shot", strokers will usually win most of the time-----the pba tour is a good example. most of the winners have been straighter type players who stroke the ball.

pete weber is not a cranker---he is a power stroker. the two winningest players in the history of the pba, walter ray williams, jr., and earl anthony, are/were strokers.

i don't know about that. it's a personal choice like a lot of things. i think it came naturally to mark roth, marshall holman, and robert smith.

Strokers.  We've only got about three guys who would even begin to qualify as crankers, and none of them have the "typical" cranker form like Tommy Jones or Jason Couch.

Hey Andyp99,

Ask Paul Moor, Stu Williams and Robert Kendal (the mintcake)(to name but a few) if no one averages 200 in England.

Paul Moor has actually been Europeen Champion for the last 3 years running (and you can't do that without averaging 200+)  In fact he just (Feb 21 - 25 2007) won the Luxembourg Open with a 227 ave.

Like I said before, have a look at the Talk Tenpin site.

in my gold pin league, nobody plays inside of the third arrow, if in the case there is someone, that would be me. So, in other words, theres no crankers, high rev guys preffers to play straighter since it will give them a better look and higher percentage of carry.

in my case, no crankers = strokers/tweeners win

but from my house, the highest bowlers are tweeners/crankers but its only couple of them
--------------------
When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one

This guy on youtube posts videos of the PBA
for ppl who dont watch TV or want to save the matches this will be great!

Highest average on my league is held by a cranker, 2nd is a cranker, everything below that is tweeners and strokers.  Now that I think about it those 2 guys may be the only true crankers in the league.  Lots of strokers, and a few tweeners.  Depending on your definition of the two.

Well since I would only consider a very small percentage of league bowlers crankers, I would say strokers.

Yeah I would say in my league there are only a few actual crankers and only one that puts up decent scores every now and then.  He doesn't average 200 though...
