Craziest Bowling Stories
« on: March 28, 2011, 06:11:07 PM »
This thread is just what the title says xD. I want everyone to post their best/craziest/favorite bowling story.

I'll start:

Just last weekend in a tournament, this guy has the front 11. Every single shot was dead flush, ten back, perfect. The guy had at least 500 rpm's and was throwing it really fast. Then on his last shot, he somehow stoned a 4-5. He went a little light and neither pin wiggled, just a solid 4-5. One of the craziest things I've ever seen.

The only things that are truly permanent are death and Sharpies.

I believe when you lower your expectations, you only increase your chances xD

Several years ago, during our city tournament, a guy shot is first 300 game. Just as soon as that last ball hit the pins and struck, he was running out on the lane, to the arrows, celebrating his success.......i dont think anyone had the stones to tell him congratulations on his 290 game....lol

On the way down the lane, obviously crossing the foul line is a foul.  Once the ball hits the pins and strikes and the rake has come down, is it still a foul?

Several years ago a bowler in one of my leagues shot 300 with his shirt pulled up over his head on the 12th ball. It was a dare from his teammates.  Some people were shocked that he would potentially throw a bad shot and ruin his chance at the 300, but alas, he is a lefty...

I got the best story ever and it just happened two weeks ago. In my monday night league we have this 20-22 year old that isnt quite right in the head but is a nice kid anyway. He walked in two weeks ago with a hospital bracelet on and myself and another guy asked what he was in the hospital for. He said he went to get two staples put in his head. he bent down and showed us the two staples the put in his head. I asked how in the world he needed to get staples put in his head. He told he was out bowling a couple games earlier in the day. He said he was on the approach throwing his ball when it got stuck on his thumb, he fell down and the ball went straight up in the air and landed on his head. I cant make this up, i swear, its on video.

My buddy's older brother, who I am also good friends with, is a pretty good bowler in our area. Two seasons ago he was shooting his typical 630-670 range. But in the sixth fram of the second game he left a stone 8-9. My team was bowling on the next pair over and I had to physically stop myself from going on the approach due to shock.

He has roughly 350-400 RPM and good amount of tilt. This ball has a sharp pocket entry and I was unsure how he left a 8-9.

I wish we had it on video.

I'm in the process of trying to find out where I fit in the bowling world. I do not know my tech specs of my game, but it's all a learning process.

A few years ago a guy next to us goes 299 the first game.  He has the first 6 in game 2.  He slips in the 7th, ball strikes, but he fouled.  He looked down and had a french fry stuck to his shoe between the sole and the heel.  His kids were eating french fries.  He picked up the spare and then took it off the sheet for a 270.  He threw 13 strikes that game and only gets credit for 12.  He also got stuck in the 7th and had to buy a round.  He did finish with a 236 for an 805.

This Happened at a 48 lane center. We were finishing a Tourney and down to the last two guys. each guy was perfect through the first five frames. No open bowlers within 10 lanes of the Finals pair, on lanes 3&4 so kind of sucluded on the low end of the house, only sound you can hear is a slight murmur from the guys watching and the sound of the guys bowling.

One guy is about Halfway through is approach in the 6th frame first shot when you hear this  "YOUR PIZZA IS READY ON LANE 37!! YOUR PIZZA IS READY ON LANE 37!!"

The guy halfway to the approach stumbles not ready for the sudden noise and drops the ball in the gutter, ended up costing him about a grand and a half. The guys in the back were all trying not to laugh and not doing a very good job of it.

Watched a guy run the front 11 all solid shots in the pocket and then leave only the headpin for 299.

And topping that saw a kid run the front ten and then leave a 6-8, the kicker is he is right handed and the shot looked to be nut flush, great rack is all we could come up with after that.

I resemble that remark.    I did throw 12 really flush shots for the 270!

How the heck are you Zack?  Haven't heard from you in ages.  How's the back?

Me personally I have gone front 8 and than tossed it in the channel. Spared it up and struck out in the tenth for a 270 game.

earlier this season my friend had first 11 and on the last shot left a pocket 7-10. its an old wood house and is known for pocket splits.

also another time at a different house i left a pocket 6 pin. im guessing something knocked it back up

This story is like the one Mainzer told it happened to me. Bowling in a tournament in SC a few years back. I'm in the finals, center fairly empty except for a few open play lanes at the far end of the house. I am going into my slide to release the ball, the young man at center control calls out a phone call for someone . I pull the shot left the baby split and lost the match and tournament.

Good luck and good bowling to all...

True Story...

Dude in my house hit the pocket so hard that he kicked one of the pins up and broke the light in the back that helps you see that pins...   Thats what you call destorying the pocket....
