I'm finally..
« on: October 26, 2008, 08:00:25 AM »
Getting into bowling junior tournaments. I should've started last year or two years ago, but just got done with my first one today. It was quite an experience, I must say. The bowlers there were awesome, and the lanes were actually tough. I had to work pretty hard to get a good shot, but a lot of my problems today were just me, not the ball match-up.

I am left with a big question, though. We bowled on the "Kegel Broadway" pattern. How on earth do you effectively play this pattern?

Thanks in advance!

BTW: my scores weren't so great. Again, it's only my first time, but here's the scores - 210, 144, 144, 181, 176 (I don't even know how I managed two 144's lol)

Interesting. Never even thought of that one. I was floating around 8, 9, and 10 the whole day. Thanks!

On sport patterns that is usually the first place I look lol. Especially now that Ive gotten some experience and can actually play that line. I used to be way to inconsistent to go there, but I've learned how to now.

But you play it like the Cheetah, or the Viper, or the Chameleon used to play, just play straight up the gutter.

Just out of curiosity, what junior tourney did you bowl? Was it some type of tour, or just a local junior tourney in the area?

Thanks for the advice again, tenpin! I'll remember that one.

Also, the tournament was a "PJBT" (Pennsylvania Jounior Bowler Tournament).. err.. or something like that lol.

I guess the Pennsylvania JBT's are different.

But last year, before I went up and bowled as an adult, I bowled a couple of the New Jersey JBTs, and they would always use a THS, except for Super Match Game (the 2 AM tournament) where they put out a decent shot.

I didn't think JBT's put out the Kegel Patterns.

This one was a "Challenge Pattern" day, because it was Major #3 of the PJBT's, so I was forunate enough to bowl on this here Kegel pattern. It was a toughy lol.

After looking at the JBT Website, Its not the same organization I was thinking of. Either way, they sound like good tournaments and you should bowl them more often.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to think that TRACK sucks. And its even funnier when im carrying with my TRACK ball and they're going flat ten with their OTHER BRANDS ball.

haha, no I have like 13 now, bowling the PBA League over the summer I made an effort to try and impart some revs.

And the only way im playing 1,2,3 on a house shot is with plastic. When I bowl house patterns I usually get pretty deep actually.

I know what you mean, and I am with you on that. If you have a flat pattern, avoid a swing shot and stay closer to the gutter until the lane opens up a bit. This does neither look impressive and might not yield high games, but you will most probably score consistently, stay out of bigger trouble and remain competitive. And always keep a keen eye on your and yoir competition's ball reaction and lines, it tells you a lot about what's going on out there
