The main difference I see in mine is the length. Hyper Cell Skid gets a little better length than the Crux Pearl.

With the same exact layout I think the Crux Pearl would hook sooner and have a slightly less angular breakpoint but both would cover the same amount of boards.

My Skid is drilled 55/5/70 with the Crux Pearl being 55/4/55. I definitely notice the Crux Pearl reading the mids sooner with a VERY strong backend that is only a touch less than the Skid.

You can't go wrong either way. Both are very good, versatile balls.

Not surprised really. Cell core is remarkable. I can see the Skid being more overall because it is so strong downlane and very continuous.

A pin down Skid should flare less than a pin up Skid but when you start comparing 2 different balls it's a completely different situation.

I prefer the pin up one on house as it doesn't rip the front of lanes up as rapidly, since it flares less.

I think overall that the Nucleus Core tends to be a heavier rolling core compared to the Paragon Core used in the Defiant line.  But, I really like how the Nucleus Core tends to offer flexibility with drilling yet still have something clean through the front with a good midlane read and still get a heavy roll/continuous motion.  You could likely replace the Totally Defiant with the Skid and have something more versatile.  People I know who have used the Totally Defiant have sometimes described it as an either love it or hate it ball.

In your neck of the woods, I know with Transit Lanes using a longer 43' pattern with some volume on the Brunswick synthetics, the Hyper Cell Skid should easily clear the front but still offer a predictable motion in back.  Bowlmor/AMF Airport with their new AMF MAD II synthetics installed right before the Junior Gold tournament will have more friction and it will allow you to move further left and still have good recovery.
