Autographed Balls in PBA Auctions
« on: March 10, 2009, 09:06:32 AM »
WOW, i just checked PBA's auctions there was a storm spitfire signed by norm duke, and a gravity shift signed by pete weber, the balls were in like perfect condition, and starting bid was only $75, i wonder how high the auction would go.

couldn't believe the plastic balls fetched so much, usually even the regular stuff only brings less than $100.  Guess we should thank Randy for the plug on TV that the balls would be up, I was hoping to get one cheap, too bad.

I bought a ball a couple years ago autographed by Walter Ray for $35.  It came with an autographed towel.  We also have a shirt autographed by Kim Terrell in our offices.  I can't remember what I paid for it but it was a bargain.  Both purchases were at a charity auction.  We have several items of bowling memorabilia our family collections.  Kelly Kulick's shirt, Pete Weber's glove, ton's of autographs.  My favorite autograph in my bowling collection, Carmen Salvino.

Sad to say, bowlers are just not held in very high esteem, even by other bowlers.

In other sports, such signed momentos would go for hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Here, we're lucky to get $35 for them. Pitiful.

I loved collecting autographed balls.  I had a number of them on display in my shop, signed and given to me by: Wes Malott, Chris Barnes, Paul Fleming, Liz Johnson, Pete Weber, Jeff Carter, Kim Adler, Ryan Shafer, Del Baldo Jr, Mark Williams, Donna Conners, Carol Norman, Joe Firpo, Danny Wiseman, prolly a couple others that escape me.

I loved those things, giggle like a little kid, funny.....
