sure, if one brand makes a better heavy oil ball than your perferred company then you would mix and match. However, when building an arsenal, many ball companies make balls that are similar but not exact. Usually the balls that are released are done so in a stepladder fashion, aggressive, medium aggressive, mild aggressive and mild, etc. So if you browse to different companies balls you might get too much overlap, and waste money.
It depends on what matches up to your game best. I have a Track heavy oil ball, Columbia mid range, Hammer for light and brunswick plastic.
