Current Cleaners/polishes of Choice?
« on: September 30, 2020, 12:43:04 PM »
I like to have some cleaners and a polish or 3 on hand for altering and maintaining my bowling ball surfaces.

well as this season get underway, i find my supplies low.  before I default to the usual stuff; I am curious what seems to be the preferred cleaners for todays equipment.

when I went shopping I see some new products, dont see some old products (or perhaps they have new labels/packaging) and thought I would inquire before making a choice.

I like most of the Motiv stuff. Power Gel Clean is good for polished/shiny balls and Power Gel Scuff takes care of sanded surfaces. Not a big fan of the Power Gel Polish, doesn't seem to do a whole lot, but Power Gel Gloss is nice. It's rated as a 5500 grit polish but I don't find the resulting finish too squirty. Motiv has a water-based cleaner as well but I've never used nor seen it.

They call the two cleaners a gel but it's more like a lotion. I rub them into the ball by hand then wipe it off with a towel. Works really well.

CoorZero;

I use mostly storm stuff; so as reference point for my question: do the motiv cleaners work as well on the Nano/NRG type covers as well as the typical reactive covers?  for example, would you use the Power Gel Scuff both an IQ Tour and the IQ Tour Nano?

and thanks for the previous reply.

Yes. I don't have anything with Nano currently but a friend does who also uses the Motiv cleaners and it works fine. It's doubtful they're chemically tailored for each brand's specific coverstocks.

I use Ultimate Black magic cleaner and their Black Magic polish. Exceptional at getting off rubber marks and pin paint, and the polish works incredibly well and lasts longer for me between re-polishing sessions.
